Description

The Sutherland Monument is a large ashlar obelisk erected in 1833 to commemorate George Granville, Duke of Sutherland. It stands 70 feet high on a square plinth and is set on a stepped base. An inscribed tablet is located on the north side of the monument. The structure is positioned on a rugged crag that overlooks the village of Lilleshall.
