Description
The Forbes of Newe Obelisk, located at the Royal Cornhill Hospital in Aberdeen, was designed by John Smith in 1830. This obelisk is made of pink granite ashlar and features a square-plan base topped with three granite steps on a splayed plinth. Each side of the obelisk has recessed tooled grey granite panels that commemorate John Forbes of Newe, Charles Forbes of Newe, and the establishment of the Royal Cornhill Asylum.
