Description
The Lodge at Victoria Park in Westburn, Aberdeen, is a single-storey and attic cottage ornee built in the later 19th century. It features finely finished coursed tooled granite with a base course, overhanging eaves, and decorative pierced bargeboarding.
The south elevation, which serves as the entrance, is symmetrical with a gableted porch that projects to the center. It has a Tudor-arched stop-chamfered doorway with outer angles, a panelled timber door that includes a letterbox fanlight, and single windows in the flanking bays on either side.
The east elevation, facing Watson Street, is asymmetrical and consists of two bays. A gabled bay is advanced to the left, featuring a three-light canted window on the ground floor and a window set in the gablehead of the attic floor. There is also a window in the ground floor of the flanking bay to the right, with a gableted dormer breaking the eaves above and a cast-iron flower finial.
The north elevation is also asymmetrical with two bays, including a gabled bay to the left and a flat-roofed addition on the ground floor. A dormer is located in the re-entrant angle of the attic, flanked by a modern skylight.
On the west elevation, there is a gabled bay to the right, with two symmetrically placed windows on the ground floor and a single window centered in the gablehead of the attic floor. A flat-roofed addition is attached to the outer left, featuring a modern window in the center.
The building predominantly has 2-pane modern PVCu glazing and is topped with a purple grey slate roof that includes fishscale banding and a lead ridge. The skews are coped with decorative circular cans, and there are cast-iron rainwater goods.
The interior was not seen in 1999.
