Description
248 Rosemount Place in Aberdeen is a later 19th-century semi-detached block featuring a single storey, basement, and attic, designed as two mirrored cottages with four bays. The building is constructed from tooled coursed grey granite, which is finely finished at the margins of the south elevation, while the rest is made of coursed granite rubble. It has strip quoins, hood moulds over the doorways with Tudor label stops, and a band course.
The south elevation is symmetrical, showcasing three-light bowed windows in the central two bays of the basement and ground floor. Above, there are three-light pilastered timber bowed dormers that break the eaves of the attic floor, adorned with dentil moulded cornices. The outer left and right bays feature glazed panelled timber doors with letterbox fanlights, accessed by stone steps, and there are round-arched dormers in the attic floor above.
The east elevation is gabled, while the north elevation was not seen in 1999. The west elevation is also gabled and symmetrical, with two round-arched windows at the center and a small attic window set in the gablehead.
The building predominantly has four-pane timber sash and case windows, although there is a replacement PVCu window to the left of the attic at No. 250. It has a grey slate roof with a lead ridge, coped stone skews with blocked skewputts, and coped granite gablehead stacks with octagonal cans. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.
The interior was not seen in 1999. The boundary walls consist of coped coursed granite walls to the south and rubble walls to the rear.
