Description
The fountain in Victoria Park, Westburn, Aberdeen, was designed by J B Pirie and completed in 1878. It is an octagonal structure made of granite ashlar, situated in the center of a large circular pool. The principal basin has a battered design, featuring a band of rough-faced stone that rises with tooled monograms and symbols just below the coping. At each corner of the octagon, there are small stylised flower basins that spout water. The shaft of the central spout is decorated with Greek motifs and stylised flowers, arranged in four diminishing tiers, with the upper two tiers made of copper.
