Description
The cow houses, stable, and former cartshed, now used as a garage, are located approximately 25 meters southwest of Skyborry Farmhouse. Likely built in the 18th century, with alterations made in the mid to late 19th century, the structure features coursed limestone rubble on the ground floor and end walls, with some later red brick dressings. The first floor is weatherboarded and timber-framed, topped with slate roofs.
This long range of two-storey buildings is divided into two parts. The right section has two boarded loft doors and a square pitching opening slightly off-center to the right. On the ground floor, there are two segmental-headed boarded doors to the left, flanked by narrow vents, a two-leaf boarded stable door off-center to the right, a sash window to the left, and an open cartshed to the right, which is now a garage. There is also a loft opening in the right-hand gable end and an early 19th-century lean-to addition to the right.
The lower block on the left is set back and features a boarded loft door to the right, two small windows to the left, and a central ground floor boarded door flanked by pairs of narrow vents. Inside, the rebuilding has resulted in a mix of truss types, including a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts above, as well as a machine-sawn 19th-century king post truss. Skyborry Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
