Description
Nos. 12 and 14 on Lower Brook Street are a house, with the right-hand part having been used as a shop but now returned to domestic use. The building dates from 1741, as indicated by the datestone, and has undergone later additions and alterations. It is constructed of red brick and features a slate roof with internal end stacks. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with a boxed-in eaves cornice. The front has four windows, which are glazing bar sashes with gauged heads, and there are gabled dormers on the left and right slopes of the roof. The entrances are located at the rear. The datestone "E/JR/1741" is positioned above and between the central first-floor windows. The two lower right-hand windows are from the late 20th century, added when the shop front was removed.
