7/57 Disused cottage - approx. 110m south of West Dudston Farmhouse

Cottage, now disused. Mid-C17 with later additions and alterations. Weatherboarded timber frame with red brick and plaster infill, C18 red brick to right gable end, which has large integral stack; graded slate roof. 2-cell plan with later stack. One storey and attic; fenestration destroyed to ground floor but 2 raking eaves dormers survive; doorway to right. Interior: timber frame exposed throughout including to cross- wall; square and rectangular panels with woven infill, long straight tension braces. Right ground-floor room has chamfered spine beam with stepped ogee stops and heavy chamfered joists; inglenook fireplace. Left ground-floor room has infilled chamfered wooden mullion window to left-wall; inserted central staircase approached from rear. Collar and tie beam roof in 2 bays with V-struts from collar to left gable end. West Dudston Farmhouse is not included in this list.
