Description
Nos. 14 to 16 on Whitchurch Road is a farmhouse that has been divided into three cottages. It dates from the late 17th century and was partly remodeled in the early to mid-19th century, with later additions and alterations. The original timber frame has been replaced by 19th-century red brick on the front and right gable end, and it features a plain tile roof. The building is one storey with an attic and appears to have three framed bays. The framing is exposed on the back wall and is visible under render on the left gable end, consisting of square panels with four from the cill to the wall-plate and V-struts from the collar.
The façade includes three 20th-century casements with 19th-century segmental heads, alternating with 20th-century doors; the doorways to Nos. 14 and 15 also have segmental heads. There are 19th-century gabled eaves dormers with 20th-century casements directly above the windows. A red brick ridge stack is located to the left of center, and there is an integral end stack to the right. A late 20th-century flat-roofed brick addition to the left of No. 16 is not of special architectural interest.
