6/225 Outbuilding approx. - 15m south of Wootton Castle

GV II

Outbuilding, probably formerly part of a threshing barn. Mid-C17 with later alterations. Timber framed with plaster and brick infill, corrugated iron roof. 2 levels; one framed bay; framing: square panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate with short straight tension brace, right gable end re-built in red brick. Interior: left gable end displays tie beam truss with long raking struts supporting principal rafter. Lies directly on a line with the south gable end of Wootton Castle (q.v.) to which it was probably formerly attached. Included for group value.
