Description
The disused barge house, likely built in the late 19th century, is located along the former Ellesmere Canal in West Felton, Shropshire. The structure features a painted corrugated iron upper storey set above a lower storey made of purple engineering brick, topped with a corrugated iron roof. It consists of two levels, with a loft at road level that overlooks a narrow-boat mooring area at canal level. On the left side, there are four square-headed openings with boarded double doors, and to the right of the centre, there are similar but narrower openings. Although the interior could not be inspected during the resurvey in May 1986, it was noted to have round-headed tunnels behind the entrances on the left, which were formerly used for mooring narrow-boats.
