Description
The Parker memorial, located approximately 12 meters northwest of the tower of the Church of St. Michael in Llanyblodwel, is a churchyard memorial dating from around 1860. It is made of limestone and features a Gothic-style pedestal tomb. The tomb has a square base with corner piers that taper towards the top, which includes a moulded string course. The upper section is also square with chamfered edges and has gables with floriated label-stops on each face, topped by an enriched Celtic cross. The east side of the monument bears an inscription below a hoodmould, commemorating Reverend John Parker, who died in 1860 and is noted for rebuilding the Church of St. Michael in the mid-19th century. Additionally, there are two pyramidal stone posts to the east that are connected to the monument by cast-iron chains with spur-shaped spikes.
