Description
The Garden House, located 120 metres northwest of Burford House, is a garden house dated 1728 and restored in 1954. It is constructed of brick and features a curved plain-tiled roof. The facade includes a portico supported by four Roman Doric columns and a pediment, which has an elegant twisted wrought-ironwork tympanum displaying the shield of arms of William Bowles M.P., the proprietor of Vauxhall Glass Works. The facade is flanked by parapets with ball-head finials, and the rear wall is semicircular in plan. Inside, the space is also semicircular, plastered, and has a domed ceiling with a moulded cornice.
