Description
The France memorial and railed enclosure, located approximately 2 meters north-west of Plealey Methodist Church, is a chest tomb dating from around 1830. It is made of limestone and has a rectangular plan. The memorial features a moulded plinth and capping with a chamfered top ledger and fluted corner pilasters. On the south side, there is a moulded inscription panel commemorating Richard France, who died in 1829, and another on the west side for his son, also named Richard, who died in 1869. Additional inscriptions for other family members can be found on the north and east sides. The enclosure is surrounded by a cast-iron railing with spear-headed finials. Richard France, the younger, was the founder of Plealey Methodist Church.
