Cow houses approximately 90 metres to north west of Harnage Grange

The cow houses, located approximately 90 metres to the northwest of Harnage Grange, date from the mid to late 19th century. They are constructed of red brick set on a high coursed sandstone rubble plinth, with roughly dressed grey sandstone and brick dressings, topped with plain tile roofs. The buildings are arranged in an L-plan, forming one and a half sides of a square foldyard, and are one storey high with a loft.

On the east front, there are two gabled eaves loft dormers to the right, with narrow vents for the loft positioned beneath the eaves. The ground floor features alternating segmental-headed two-leaf boarded doors and segmental-headed wooden casements.

The south front includes a boarded loft door beneath the eaves to the right, with alternating segmental-headed two-leaf boarded doors and segmental-headed wooden casements to the left. The right-hand section has a pair of large boarded doors, a small segmental-headed boarded opening, and a segmental-headed boarded door with bull-nose reveals, all equipped with stone hinge blocks.

These cow houses are part of a larger farm complex that includes a significant 17th-century barn to the east, and they contribute to the overall group value of the historic buildings surrounding the two square foldyards near Harnage Grange.
