Description
No. 63 Green End is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the late 17th century and was partly rebuilt in the early to mid-19th century. The building features a timber frame with red brick nogging, which is partly painted and partly rendered. The front range is made of red brick with a rendered ground floor and has a slate roof.
The framing consists of square panels, with two extending from the sole plate to the wall plate, and long straight tension braces. The rear gable includes a collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts and V-struts. The building has an L-plan layout, with a 19th-century front range and a one-bay 17th-century rear wing. It stands two storeys high and has a rendered plinth.
A central brick ridge stack is present, and there are two first-floor windows that are segmental-headed 4-pane sashes with stone cills, flanking a central boarded window. On the ground floor, there is a segmental-headed 4-pane sash window to the right with a painted stone cill. The shop front is off-centre to the left and features a three-part plate-glass window on the left, a half-glazed door on the right with a blocked segmental-headed overlight, and a rusticated surround. To the left, there is a side-passage doorway with a boarded door and a blocked segmental-headed overlight.
