Description
No. 18 Green End is a house that has been converted into a shop and surgery. It dates from the 17th century, with alterations made around 1700. The building features a timber frame with painted brick nogging and has been partly rebuilt and extended in brick. The roof, added in the 20th century, is machine tile and hipped to the right. The framing consists of small rectangular panels, with lighter framing present in the left-hand gable end from around 1700. The structure has two storeys and an attic, highlighted by a central gabled dormer that contains a two-light wooden casement window. At the rear, there is a rendered brick ridge stack.
On the first floor, there is a mid to late 19th-century three-light wooden mullioned and transomed window. The ground floor features a late 19th-century shop front with a plate-glass window and a half-glazed door to the right, which includes margin lights and two panels. This is framed by panelled piers and topped with a fascia that has billet ornamentation. At the back, there is a wing from around 1700 that showcases an exposed collar and tie-beam truss in the gable end.
