ELLESMERE RURAL C.P. L-shaped barn approx. 30m west of Lee New Farmhouse

Barn. Probably early C18 with minor later alterations. Timber framed with red brick infill and part weatherboarded; corrugated iron roof. L-plan. 2 levels. Framing: irregular square and rectangular panels, 3 from cill to wall-plate to long range with collar and tie beam truss exposed to gable end of projecting weatherboarded range. Long range has eaves hatches to left and to right of centre; roughly central stable door with C20 windows to far left and right. Shorter range has stable door to left of centre with C20 windows to either side. C18 brick lean- tos to gable ends of each range and 2 to rear of long range. Interior. Main range has single-purlin queen-post roof in 3 bays with loft to left bay and projecting range has queen-post roof in 3 bays with queen-strut end trusses and inserted full-length loft. Included for group value.
