Description
No. 138 Corve Street is a former inn known as the Star and Garter, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of painted brick and stucco, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It has three storeys and a cellar, featuring a three-window range with 6/6 sash windows in moulded cases, which are set under gauged brick flat arches. There are storey bands present, and the upper floor has 3/6 sash windows.
On the ground floor, the building has ashlared stucco above a plain plinth, with three 6/6 sash windows beneath keyed lintels and a storey band. The left gable is made of rubble, with brick above the wall plate level, and features a 20th-century 6/6 sash window. To the left rear, there is a 19th-century two-storey wing that has two blocked openings on the left side, one of which has a 20th-century door inserted. The wing also includes 20th-century 6/6 and 8/8 sash windows on the ground and first floors.
