Description
Nos. 22, 24, and 26, Old Street, Ludlow, are three adjacent properties. No. 22 appears to have a late 20th-century front applied to an earlier structure. It is constructed of brick, with a shallow-pitched Welsh slate roof and a brick end stack to the left. The building is three storeys high with a four-window front, featuring 8/12 sash windows with brick segmental arches on the ground floor and 8/8 sashes above. A six-panel door is centrally positioned to the left, sheltered by a flat hood supported on moulded consoles. A single 8/12 sash is to the left of the door, with two to the right. A storey band runs above. The right gable is of later 20th-century construction. The rear of the property displays a steeper roof pitch, a substantial stone stack with an 18th-century upper section, roughcast rendering, a 20th-century casement window, a 19th-century light, and a 20th-century glazed door.
No. 24 is a late 19th-century house built of brick with a plain tile roof and a brick end stack. It is two storeys high and features late 19th-century sash windows and a 20th-century glazed door.
No. 26 is a 19th-century house, now used as a shop and dwelling. It is constructed of brick with a likely composite tile roof, a brick ridge stack and an axial end stack. The building is three storeys high with a cellar and has a two-window front featuring late 19th-century 1/1 sashes set in painted reveals with stone sills, all under painted gauged brick segmental arches; similar windows are above. A coloured brick band and brick modillions decorate the parapet. A 19th-century half-glazed door is centrally located to the left, flanked by late 19th-century 1/1 sashes. A plank door is located to the right, both beneath painted gauged brick segmental arches. The rear of No. 26 is also 19th century and features various sashes and casement windows.
Nos. 24 and 26 were added to the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest on October 28, 1969.
