Description
This is a disused cottage located in Knockin, dating from the late 18th century with some minor later alterations. The building is constructed from regularly coursed and dressed red sandstone blocks and features a graded slate roof. It has a two-cell plan and stands two storeys high. The cottage has small 19th-century casement windows, with those on the first floor positioned directly below the eaves, flanking a central boarded door. The doorway and ground-floor windows are adorned with original slightly projecting keystones. There is an integral end stack to the left with a red brick shaft and another stack at the front right corner.
The interior could not be inspected during the last survey in October 1986, but it was noted to have a plain cross beam and joists in the left ground-floor room, and a plain spine beam and joists in the right ground-floor room. The left room features a large open fireplace with a winder staircase located behind it, while the right room has a corner fireplace.
