Description

Bank House is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century, with later additions from the late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof, with a two-span design over the 19th-century addition on the left. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic, showcasing a Gothick style. Notable architectural details include a dentil brick eaves cornice, with bricks set on edge on the 18th-century section, and two stacks located at the rear.

The house has two bays; on the right side, there are 19th-century three-light wooden casements on both the first and ground floors, which have ogee brick heads and blind tympana. To the left, there is a 19th-century two-light segmental-headed wooden casement on the first floor, and early 19th-century two-panelled half-glazed doors with a bracketed triangular-pedimented porch. This porch has been re-set in an 18th-century doorway, behind which is a blocked ogee-headed doorway.

The late 19th-century addition is set back to the left and features 20th-century wooden casements in altered openings on each floor. There is also a 20th-century lean-to one-storey addition on the right and a 19th-century lean-to addition at the rear. The interior has not been inspected, but the 20th-century alterations to the 19th-century extension do not compromise the integrity of the 18th-century house, which retains its unusual details.
