Description
No. 7 Church Road is a cottage that likely dates back to the 16th century and was extended in the late 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure, partly constructed with cruck framing, and has painted brick infill, a plinth, and later additions. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of the original two or three-bay structure that was extended to the right in the late 20th century, with a contemporary brick range added to the rear on the right.
The cottage is one storey high with an attic. The framing includes square and rectangular panels, with two panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate, larger panels, and one straight brace on the left gable end. The original part of the cottage has four 20th-century casement windows and a gabled dormer in the roof slope. The extension to the right features a 20th-century glazed door and casement window. There is a 20th-century external end stack on the left and a small ridge stack at the junction between the timber-framed section and the later addition. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to contain one true cruck truss.
