Description

Milford Bridge is a road bridge built in 1831, designed by engineer Thomas Stanton. It is constructed from tooled red sandstone ashlar and features two segmental arches with stepped voussoirs, impost bands, and central semi-circular cutwaters. The bridge has curved wing walls with square end piers, a string course, and a plain parapet with a rounded top. The parapet is made of large stone blocks with herringbone tooling. The contract for the bridge's construction was awarded to Nathaniel Edwards. Thomas Stanton served as deputy to Thomas Telford, the County Surveyor of Bridges. Milford Bridge carries the Little Ness-Baschurch road over the River Perry.
