Description
Park Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, with later additions and alterations. It features a timber frame, which was formerly partly constructed using cruck techniques, with painted brick infill and a plinth, topped by a concrete tile roof. The building has a two-cell plan and consists of one storey and an attic. The framing has been largely renewed and partly rebuilt in brick, painted black and white to imitate traditional styles. It has large square and rectangular panels, with two panels extending from the cill to the wall-plate and three on the right gable end, which includes a collar and tie beam truss. The left gable end previously featured cruck construction.
On the ground floor, there are two late 20th-century casement windows, with contemporary gabled eaves dormers directly above. A ridge stack has been rebuilt in late 20th-century brown brick, located immediately to the right of centre. There are prominent late 20th-century additions to the left and rear of the cottage that are not of special architectural interest. Additionally, the upper and lower collars of the former cruck truss have been erected on two late 20th-century posts in the garden, which are not included in this listing. The cottage is included for its group value.
