Description

This is a village pump, trough, and walled enclosure located approximately 7 metres to the south-west of the Red Lion in Myddle. It dates from the mid- to late 19th century. The pump is made of painted cast iron and features a circular shaft with moulded rings, a fluted top with a splayed spout, a double-curved handle, and a domed cap topped with a spike finial. The trough is rectangular and constructed from grey sandstone. The enclosing walls are semicircular and made of uncoursed red sandstone rubble with rounded coping. There is a 20th-century gateway.
