Description

The Welsh Bridge, located in Shrewsbury, was built between 1792 and 1795 by Sir John Carline and John Tilley. This bridge features an ashlar-faced structure with five principal arches and a narrower towpath arch at the north end. The arches are segmental and constructed with voussoirs, which are separated by pilasters over cutwaters. The bridge is topped with a balustraded parapet that includes original cast-iron lamp fittings.
