Description

The ice house, located approximately 15 metres to the south-west of The Tithe Barn, dates from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick and is covered by an earth mound, featuring a circular plan. The entrance is situated to the north-west, although the approach tunnel has since been demolished. Inside, there is a domed roof with an oculus, and the structure tapers down to a drain at the base. This ice house was formerly one of the outbuildings associated with The Old Rectory on Claypit Street. The Tithe Barn itself is not included in this listing.
