Description

This is a house, likely dating from the early 19th century, though with a datestone suggesting 1763. It is constructed of red brick with a slate roof. The house has two storeys and an attic. A painted sandstone plinth features chamfered rustication, and the eaves are defined by a corniced brick band. A central brick ridge stack and an integrated brick end stack are present. Two gabled dormers are visible, each with a two-light wooden casement and slate-clad sides. The windows are primarily 16- and 20-pane sashes with painted stone sills and segmental heads. A first-floor window in the second bay from the right incorporates a likely reset datestone inscribed "R R : D 1763." A late 19th-century half-glazed door is set within an early 19th-century wooden doorcase, incorporating reeded pilaster strips, a fluted architrave, a frieze, and a moulded cornice to a triangular pediment. A side-passage doorway to the left has a boarded door and a vent formed from four omitted headers. The return front on the right includes small ground-floor and first-floor windows to the left. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included in the listing for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
