Description

The sundial in the grounds of Alkmund's Church is an early 18th-century structure, built around the same time as the Church of St. Alkmund. It is made of dressed sandstone and features a bronze plate. The sundial has a circular column that stands 1.3 meters high, supported by two circular steps and a square base with rounded corners. The column is vase-shaped, with decorative gadrooning on its lower body. The circular plate is marked with 24 hours in Roman numerals and retains its original triangular gnomon. This sundial is recognized as a good example of an early 18th-century churchyard sundial, complete with its plate and gnomon, and it has group value with the nearby Church of St. Alkmund.
