Description

This is a farmhouse, now a house, dating to the 18th and early 19th centuries. It was built in 1816. The house is constructed of rubble stone, coursed stone rubble, and brick, with a hipped slate roof featuring deep eaves and three stacks: a central brick ridge stack, a brick eaves stack, and a projecting stone gable end stack with a brick shaft. The original layout was L-shaped, with extensions to the front, side, and rear.

The front, facing south-west, has a 19th-century brick extension on the right, an 18th-century stone wing in the centre, and a projecting wing forming the L-shape on the left. The brick extension has a single ground-floor sash window and a first-floor timber mullion and transom window with multi-pane casements, both with keyed stone lintels. A 6-panelled door with a toplight and a simple pilaster frame is located to the left. The stone wing features timber mullion and transom windows at each storey, each with a brick segmental-headed lintel. A 19th-century open veranda covers the ground storey. The entrance is situated within the south-east projecting wing, which has timber cross-windows on each floor and a plain boarded front door with a hoodmould. All windows have segmental-headed lintels. The left return gable end has an attic casement to the side of the central stone stack. The right return side of the front has an 8/8 sash window above a multi-pane casement, both with keyed stone lintels; the first-floor lintel’s keystone is dated. The rear is partially obscured by a lean-to outshut. A projecting rear wing is constructed of stone, featuring a two-window range with timber mullion and transom casements under brick segmental-headed lintels.

The interior was not inspected during the listing process.
