Description
This is a group of three chest tombs located one metre south of the Church of St Margaret, dating from the early to mid 19th century. They are made of sandstone ashlar.
The northern chest tomb features a plain lid with a fillet and beaded edge, plain corner piers, and end panels. The side panels have a semicircular scribed fielded inscription panel, and there is a plain chamfered plinth inset below the panels. This tomb commemorates Robert Bright, who died in 1819, and his wife Mary, who died in 1797.
The central chest tomb has a plain lid with a beaded edge, corner piers with vertical bands of horizontal fluting, and plain end and side panels. It also has a plain chamfered plinth and commemorates J..., the wife of Thomas Bradley, who died in 1814.
The southern chest tomb features a cambered lid, plain corner piers, and plain end and side panels. It has a plain chamfered plinth inset below the panels and commemorates Thomas Bradley, who died in 1841, and Robert Bradley, who died in 1869.
