Description
The remains of an engine house, dating from the late 19th century, are located approximately 50 meters northeast of Gritt Farmhouse. The structure is built from regularly coursed limestone rubble and is now roofless, featuring a rectangular plan. On the west side, there are three levels of scattered flat-headed openings with wooden lintels, while the surviving north gable end has two openings with segmental red brick heads, one directly above the other. This engine house is associated with the former local lead mining and baryte extraction industry, and there is an open shaft immediately to the south. Gritt Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
