Description
Toll House Farmhouse is a former toll house, now a residential property, built around 1822. The building is constructed from uncoursed limestone rubble, featuring brick quoining and dressings, and has a gabled roof covered with Welsh slate. A brick stack with three diagonally-set flues is located on the rear gable wall. The farmhouse has an L-shaped plan, with a projecting cross wing at the front left. It is two storeys high and has a two-window range. There are brick label moulds above the 20th-century ground-floor windows and a Tudor-arched doorway on the right side of the cross wing. The first floor of the cross wing features a stone Tudor arch over a 20th-century window, with another 20th-century window located beneath the eaves to the right. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse is situated on the A488, which was turnpiked in 1822, connecting Churchstoke to Minsterley.
