Description

Pultheley is an early to mid-17th century farmhouse, which was remodelled and extended in the mid-19th century. The original part is timber-framed with plastered infill, partially roughcast, and also constructed from random limestone rubble, with a slate roof and a red brick ridge stack on the main range. It is a three-unit baffle entry type building, extended and converted. The south side shows three framed bays, obscured by stone cladding, with square panelling visible up to the eaves in the right gable end, alongside a cambered tie beam and long straight tension braces. There is a 19th-century casement with a brick cambered head to the left of a gabled 19th-century entrance porch, and a wide rectangular 19th-century casement to the right. A subsidiary 20th-century entrance is located to the far right, and there are three gabled eaves dormers. A mid-19th-century canted bay window is present on the ground floor of the left-hand gable end. A two-storeyed, set-back mid-19th century addition is set to the rear, featuring a brick end stack and an outshut. The interior retains much of the original timber frame.
