Description
Sydnall Farmhouse and attached outbuildings, located on Sydnall Lane in Sutton Upon Tern, date from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of red brick and features a plain tile roof. It has a central two-bay, two-storey block flanked by one-bay, one-storey pavilions, arranged in a 1:2:1 bay configuration. The central block includes a plinth, a plat band between the ground and first floors, a dentil brick eaves cornice, and parapeted gable ends with moulded stone kneelers and stone copings. Integral brick end stacks are present, and the windows consist of ground-floor and first-floor segmental-headed wooden casements, along with second-floor two-light wooden casements.
The flanking pavilions feature stone-coped, parapeted gable ends with pediments at the front, and large round-arched recessed panels adorned with stone impost bands and keystones. The left-hand pavilion has a first-floor three-light window and an external brick end stack, while the right-hand pavilion includes a late 19th-century lean-to addition at the front. The left-hand pavilion connects to the central block via a low linking range with a brick ridge stack and a later lean-to conservatory at the front. The right-hand pavilion is attached by a wall. The rear of the central block has three bays with segmental-headed two-light wooden casements and a central boarded door with a segmental-headed two-part overlight. The interior has not been inspected, and the left-hand pavilion appears to function as an outbuilding.
