Bird in Hand Farmhouse

Bird in Hand Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1774, constructed of red brick with some red sandstone ashlar dressings and a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys and a gable-lit attic. Notable architectural features include a chamfered stone plinth, a plat band, a toothed-brick eaves cornice, and parapeted gable ends with moulded stone kneelers and chamfered stone coping. There are integral brick end stacks. The farmhouse has three bays, with segmental-headed small-paned wooden casements on the first floor flanking a central blind window, and segmental-headed 16-pane glazing bar sashes on the ground floor. The central entrance features a 4-panelled door, with the lower pair beaded flush and the upper recessed, and is sheltered by a plain 20th-century gabled wooden porch. A chamfered datestone on the right-hand gable end is inscribed with "S J : E 1774." The interior has not been inspected.
