Description
No. 7 High Street is a building dating from the early 19th century, serving as both shops and dwellings. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped slate roof with a central cross axial ridge stack. The building stands three stories tall with a cellar and has a two-window range. The windows are 8/8 casements with iron guards, flanking a central blind opening that is set under a semi-circular stone arch. All windows have moulded stone flat hoods supported by enriched consoles. Above, there are 6/6 casements with 20th-century wooden hoods, and the eaves are moulded wood with a boarded soffit. The early 20th-century shopfront has been altered over time and includes a glazed door at the angle of return to Market Square. To the right, there are two shop windows with plain glazing shafts and fluted banded pilasters, topped with moulded fascia boards and hoods, along with panelled stall-risers.
