Description
The Manor House is a manor house dating from around 1600, which was remodelled and extended in 1761, as indicated by the painted date and initials "AH" on the gable. The building features roughcast over coursed limestone and quartzite rubble, with slate roofs that are graded to the gable and two brick ridge stacks, one on the main range and one on the gable. The house has a T-shaped plan with a long main range that runs from northeast to southwest. It is two storeys tall with an attic in the gable and has irregular fenestration, with one window on one side and three on the other. The windows are 19th-century multi-paned leaded casements with small panes, and those on the ground floor of the main range have cambered heads. There is a six-panel door, with the upper panels now glazed, set in a plain doorcase on the gable. Inside, there is a plain staircase that was remodelled in 1761, winding in two directions at the top. The ground floor rooms of the main range feature massive chamfered beams and heavy joists, along with several good 17th-century and mid-18th-century doors. The gable has a double purlin roof.
