Description
Morda Hall is the former west wing of a Poor Law Hospital, now converted into a domestic residence. It was built between 1791 and 1792, with later alterations. The building is constructed of red brick and features a flat-pitched roof that is hidden behind a rebuilt parapet. It has six by three bays and stands two storeys tall, with a stone moulded eaves cornice. The east and west sides have late 20th-century casement windows but retain some original openings. The north and south sides have triple round-arched blind arcades on the ground floor, with the north side featuring a stone impost band and late 20th-century casements in the original openings on both floors, except for the western bay which has a prominent late 20th-century entrance porch. The south side includes a late 20th-century single-storey extension. There are rebuilt stacks at the parapet on both the east and west sides. Morda Hall is an integral part of the now largely demolished Morda House and is included for its group value.
