Description
Somershey is a house dating from the early 19th century, constructed of brick with a painted storey band and a rendered side wall, topped with slate roofs. It features a partly projecting brick gable-end stack on the left gable and an integral brick stack on all remaining gables. The building has a rectangular plan with two parallel ranges facing the street.
The exterior consists of two storeys and an attic. The street front displays two 6/6 sash windows above a single flat-roofed canted bay window, which is fitted with 2/2, 4/4, and 2/2 sashes. To the right, there is a doorcase with a painted moulded architrave and a semicircular head, panelled reveals, a fanlight with radial bars, and a 5-panelled door. Casements are present at the upper level on the gable ends, and there is a tall staircase window at the junction of the two parallel ranges on the left side.
At the rear, there is an advanced gable on the left featuring a single 6/6 sash window, an attic lunette, and a canted bay window at the ground storey. To the right, a 3/6 sash window is located at the upper storey, while the lower storey is covered by a lower two-storey extension wing.
The property includes cast-iron railings and a gate attached to the side wall and running along the front garden, featuring vase-capped main standards and arrow-head secondary standards. The interior has not been inspected.
