Description

Ashford House is an early 19th-century house located on the west side of High Street in Church Stretton. It is constructed of red brick, with rendered areas, and has a plain-tile roof with a brick dentil course at the eaves. A brick chimney stack rises from the ridge, featuring a dentil oversailing top course and a projecting gable-end stack.

The front of the house presents a two-storey, three-window facade. It has a range of 8/8 sash windows with cambered heads and brick segmental-arched lintels, with one window blocked. The ground floor features three 2/2 sash windows also under segmental arches. A moulded wooden doorcase frames a six-panelled door, complete with a fanlight consisting of radial glazing bars and a portico supported by Tuscan columns. The right-hand gable is cement rendered and features scalloped bargeboards. A two-storey brick wing extends to the north, at the rear. The interior of the property has not been inspected.
