Description
No. 65 High Street is a house that was formerly an inn called the Queens Head, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features a plain-tile roof with dentilled brick eaves and 20th-century roof-lights. The building has an L-shaped plan, forming part of a terrace that runs parallel to the street, with a rear extension wing.
The street-facing side has two storeys and a three-window range of 8/8 sash windows, each with painted ashlar lintels that have chamfered lower edges. On the ground floor, to the center left, there is a moulded wood pilaster doorcase with a hood supported by consoles, leading to a six-panelled door with fielded panels. On the south return side, there is a gable end to the left featuring a 20th-century six-panelled door with top lights. The extension wing to the right has two storeys and a three-window range of casement windows, also with painted ashlar lintels that have chamfered lower edges. The interior has not been inspected.
