Description

This milestone, located approximately 90 metres east of Wolfshead Farmhouse, was erected between 1826 and 1827 by engineer Thomas Telford. It is made of tooled limestone and features a shallow-pitched top with chamfered corners. A cast-iron plate is attached, displaying superscribed serif lettering that reads: "HOLY-/HEAD/ 97-M /SALOP / 9M - 6F". This milestone is part of a series along the A5 (Holyhead Road), which Telford improved during the 15 years following 1817. Wolfshead Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
