Description

This milestone, located approximately 480 metres southwest of Beam House Farmhouse, was erected between 1826 and 1827 by the engineer Thomas Telford. It is made of tooled limestone and features a shallow-pitched top with chamfered corners. A cast-iron plate is attached, displaying the super-scribed serif lettering: "HOLY-/HEAD / 100-M / SALOP / 6M - 6F". This milestone is part of a series along the A5 (Holyhead Road), which Telford improved during the 15 years following 1817.
