Description

This milestone, located approximately 180 metres northwest of Stone House, was erected between 1826 and 1827 by engineer Thomas Telford. It is made of tooled limestone and features a shallow-pitched top with chamfered corners. A cast-iron plate on the milestone displays superscribed serif lettering that reads: "HOLY-/HEAD / 99-M / SALOP / 7M - 6F". This milestone is part of a series along the A5 (Holyhead Road), which Telford improved in the years following 1817. Stone House is not included in this listing.
