Description

This is a headstone located 11 metres southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Lawrence in Church Stretton. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The headstone is a rectangular slab set vertically with a curved moulded top. Both sides are inscribed, with the older inscription on the west side enclosed within an incised border. It reads: "Here Lyeth ye Body of Margareat Morgan who dyd March 2 anno dom 1701 Aged 74." The east side commemorates David Harris, who died in 1819, and his wife Ann, who died in 1849.
