Description

The Church of England Primary School, dated 1821 with a late 19th-century extension, is built of stone rubble with brick dressings and raised quoins, now roughcast at the front, while the later extension is brick. The building features graduated slate roofs, hipped on the north wing, and a partly patterned tiled roof on the later extension. There are integral brick eaves chimneys on the sides. The main range has a gable facing the street, with a smaller north wing and a 19th-century extension to the south.

The exterior consists of two storeys and a single storey. The south-west front has eight-over-eight sash windows flanking a central doorway, which is topped by a gabled rustic porch. Above, there are round-headed recesses with an inscribed panel and the date 1821. A blind oculus is present in the gable. The left return side features a small single-storey hipped extension with multi-paned casements on the front and back, and a plain boarded door on the side. The right side has a tall late 19th-century brick single-storey extension with tall pointed windows in the front and back gables, along with a bell-turret at the front.

At the rear, there are three two-light casements on the upper storey, and multi-pane casements flanking two central doors at ground-floor level, one of which is now brick-blocked. A circular window is located in the gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
