4/2 Brook House - - II

Farmhouse. Early to mid-C17 with some late C20 alterations. Timber framed with plastered infill panels, and right-hand gable end rendered over coursed grey sandstone rubble; banded machine-tile roof. 2 framed bays. Framing: square panels, 4 from sole plate to wall plate. One storey and attic and 2 storeys. Integral brick end stack to right; C20- rooflight off-centre to left and large gabled semi-dormer off- centre to right with 3-light wooden casement (reconstructed in C20). 2-window front; 2-light wooden casement to right and 3-light wooden casement to left; half-glazed door off-centre to right. Sandstone rubble lean-to addition set back to right with half-glazed door to right. Left-hand gable end; 2 first-floor 2-light wooden casements, ground-floor 2-light wooden casement to right and 2-leaf boarded door to left; exposed collar and tie-beam truss with queen struts. Interior: chamfered beams and joists-with ogee stops; large open fireplace with chamfered lintel.
