Description

Brook House is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. The building is timber framed with plastered infill panels, and the right-hand gable end is rendered over coursed grey sandstone rubble. It features a banded machine-tile roof and consists of two framed bays. The framing includes square panels, with four extending from the sole plate to the wall plate. The house has one storey and an attic, as well as two storeys.

There is an integral brick end stack on the right side, a late 20th-century rooflight positioned off-centre to the left, and a large gabled semi-dormer off-centre to the right, which contains a reconstructed three-light wooden casement. The front of the house has two windows: a two-light wooden casement on the right and a three-light wooden casement on the left, along with a half-glazed door located off-centre to the right.

To the right, there is a sandstone rubble lean-to addition that is set back and features a half-glazed door. The left-hand gable end has two first-floor two-light wooden casements, a ground-floor two-light wooden casement to the right, and a two-leaf boarded door to the left. Inside, the house displays chamfered beams and joists with ogee stops, as well as a large open fireplace with a chamfered lintel.
