Description
This barn, located approximately 90 metres southeast of Colehurst Manor, dates from the mid-17th century with some alterations made in the 18th century. It is timber framed, standing on a red sandstone plinth, with red brick nogging and parts rebuilt in red brick. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The framing features square panels, with three sections from the sole plate to the wall plate, and long straight tension braces. The south end wall has been rebuilt in brick and includes tiers of vents. There is a boarded door on the left and a loft door. Inside, the barn has exposed collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts and V-struts, as well as angle braces. This barn was likely once part of the farm buildings associated with the old Colehurst Manor. The farmhouse built in the 1970s to the west of the barn, also named Colehurst Manor, is not included in this listing.
